Rehersal Diner:

The evening before the wedding, Friday May 16th, Marnie and I have reserved the patio of our favorite little Indian restaurant, "Electric Karma" for our bridal party and family. We're hoping this will make a good venue for our LA, NC, and Canadian families to better get acquainted before our big day. Let us know if you have any food allergies or aversions early on since we'll be organizing a family style menu for the evening. Were not sure on the prices per head yet, but I'll put that up as soon as we know.

This is the wedding location. Marnie and I will be staying here the night of the wedding as well. We were also hoping to be able to have a Sunday brunch with as many of you as we can the morning after the wedding. Most everyone in our families, I believe, is planning on staying here for at least the evening of the wedding, and the more people that stay together here the more convenient it will likely be for everyone. If your only coming in to town for a couple of nights, this is certainly the way to go. The reduced room rates for our guests are fairly solid as well; ($124 for 1-2 people) ($164 for 3-4 people) a night. But this means it's not a 4 star hotel and don't expect room service out the wazoo. The rooms look cozy, clean, and entertainingly designed, the down side's however are that downtown LA is not the most attractive place to visit or the most pedestrian friendly. If your planning on staying more than a couple of nights you might want to consider renting a car as well.

A few other downtown options if the fig isn't up your alley:
HOLIDAY INN: ****
SHERATON: ****
STANDARD: ***

The dress:

For some silly superstitious reason Mouse won't show me or the rest of you the dress. But she has got one, as well as dresses for our bride's maids. Luckily those we can see. They are a dark chocolate brown, and we plan on all the jewelry and accessories being gold to compliment. The flower arrangement are still to be decided on but we disassembled our dining room flowers for the purpose of this. Hopefully that won't be too misleading.

The Location:

We found a location, and we've locked in a date. It's this May 17th at Hotel Figueroa: 939 S. Figueroa St. LA CA 90015. We were both awe-struck to find such a romantic location right downtown. And the hotel's owner/manager Uno Thimansson seems very helpful. The dinner, ceremony, and dancing will all take place in the "Rabat" room. Cocktail hour is still yet to be determined but as of now it will either be in the "Nomad Lounge" or "Ricks Place". There's are still plenty of details to work out but finding this place feels like a huge relief so far.

The ring:

Mouse's engagement ring was hand made by local artist, Judy Starkman. We first came across her jewelry in a small boutique on 3rd st. here in Los Angeles. We immediately fell in love with the simple organic elegance of Judy's work. After speaking with her, we knew she was the perfect person to handle our specific ring design. She went above and beyond our expectations and we couldn't be happier.

The proposal:

On bended knee, Thursday, January 30th, 10:30 pm in the garden of The Little Door, Joshua Graham Beveridge proposed marriage to Marnie Noel Alton... she said yes!
